Dr Chloé Cécile Locatelli

I am a writer, researcher, public speaker, and teacher. I completed my PhD in December 2024 at King’s College London’s Digital Humanities Department. In 2019 I completed my Erasmus+Women and Gender Studies Master’s at Universidad de Granada, Spain and Università di Bologna, Italy and secured full London Arts & Humanities Partnership doctoral funding.

My current doctoral research looks at sextech developments designed and marketed to heterosexual men - specifically digitalised sex dolls, VR porn experiences, and “sex robots”. This work interrogates the affective potential and ethical dimensions of these technologies and the characters they project. My investigation has generated lots of interest - evidenced in publications and public speaking for both academic and non-academic audiences, along with multiple opportunities of external funding for further research. Alongside this, I have taught and lectured regularly at King’s College London and University of Westminster.

An interdisciplinary, intersectional and international approach characterises myself, my research and pedagogic practice.
